To my guests

Today I got notified that – yet again – someone registered on my blog. While I feel honored, I am not quite sure what to say about registrations that happen on a blog that has been dormant for two years now. Plus, all of the registrations come from Poland, which, even though I have the utmost respect for Poland and loved every time I had the good fortune to visit, is a bit irritating.

So, you are indeed out there and are not some spambot in training, and if you indeed registered out of genuine interest in some of my postings, please feel free to contact me by leaving a comment, I will be happy to reactivate your account. Until then, thanks, but no :)

International Brotherhood Week

It is always a nice day on which you get something confirmed in hard data you already knew was true. For example the sweet fact that zodiacs contribute exactly zero, zilch, nothing to the question wether people match or not.

The best days of OKCupid are over, its no longer the geeky place where people exchanged long mails about smart quizzes and that got most of their new users from the Startup-screen of edonkey 2000. I do wish OKCs owners lots of money and fame for what they did with this site, but I do kinda miss the old days ;)

Anyway, I recommend following OKCs blog closely, they have a dataset that dwarfs Gallup and they are smart enough to do funny things with it.

And one does wonder how hindu marriages work out.

Zweisprachiges WordPress-Blog

Das hat jetzt doch etwas Bastelei erfordert, die Zweisprachigkeit hinzukriegen. Nach der Installation von Gengo und der Anlage von Deutsch und Englisch als Sprache (Deutsch als default) bekam ich nur noch eine “Seite nicht gefunden”-Meldung, wenn ich mir das Blog anschauen wollte. Da ich WordPress noch nicht sehr gut kenne und das Gengo-Forum wohl derzeit am umziehen ist, war dann doch etwas Recherche notwendig, bis ich das Problem gefunden habe. Die Lösung lag wohl in der manuellen Erstellung einer .htaccesss-Datei und der Aktualisierung der Permalinks-Settings.

Als nächstes steht jetzt die Integration des Blags ins bestehende Exzession-Design an. Ich seh schon kommen, dass ich mich mal wieder mehr mit dem Rumbasteln am CSS beschäftige als mit Schreiben.
